Rainbow Door – Information, support and referrals for LGBTIQA+ people from 10am to 5pm daily. They operate by phone, text and email.
Find a Mental Health Clinician
There are already resource lists of TGD and LGBT+ clinicians, so individual practices or clinicians will not be added to this resource. Please use the following resources instead.
Victorian Inclusive Practitioners – A list of therapists and health practitioners in Victoria who have expertise, training, and/or lived experience working with a number of marginalised social groups including TGD people.
Support Groups
LGBTIQA+ Support After Suicide bereavement groups – These groups are run by Switchboard.
O.U.R. Bereavement – A free six-session online bereavement support group for LGBTIQA+ and/or BIPOC families and kinship networks who have experienced the loss of a child, partner, sibling or chosen family member.
Thorne Harbour Health – THH run a number of therapeutic groups for people including groups on AOD and anxiety for anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Free or Low-Cost Counselling
Queerspace – Queerspace provides both face-to-face and online counselling for LGBTIQA+ people in Victoria including a family counselling service.
Thorne Harbour Health – THH provide short term counselling for LGBTIQ+ people and people living with HIV. This can be general, or related to family violence or alcohol and other drugs.
Some support is also available at mental health hubs. These are open to anyone, and are not TGD specific:
Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs – These hubs are open to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or having a difficult time. Some hubs may be available for walk-ins.
Alcohol and Other Drug Support
Odyssey Victoria – Odyssey provides alcohol and other drug support, and have specific services and support for LGBTQIA+ people.
Q Health – A service provided by Merri Health
Thorne Harbour Health – THH provide counselling and therapeutic groups for LGBTIQ+ people and people living with HIV who would like to change their relationship with substance use.
Medically Supervised Injecting Room – located in Richmond, this room provides a safe space for anyone over 18 to inject drugs.
PAMS: Phamacotherapy Advocacy Mediation Support – A service that assists people who would like support accessing opioid replacement therapy. The service is run by Harm Reduction Victoria.
SHARC – Self Help Addiction Resource Centre – support and advocacy for individuals experiencing addiction and their loved ones. They centre peer work and lived experience. This service is for the general public but is TGD friendly.
Windana & Taskforce – AOD detox, residential rehab and counselling. They are working towards their rainbow tick accreditation.
Eating Disorder Support
Eating Disorders Victoria – EDV provides a range of supports for anyone in Victoria impacted by an eating disorder and are TGD friendly.
Sexual Assault
Sexual Assault Services Victoria – Support for anyone in Victoria who has experienced sexual assault, including members of the LGBTIQA+ community.
CASA House – Support for anyone who has experienced sexual assault.

Rent a Room – Trans Space have rooms available for clinicians to rent in Brunswick.
TGDiCH Training Project– Training provided for health professionals across Victoria by Thorne Harbour Health.
Training and Workshops – Training for the health and human services sector provided by the Zoe Belle Gender Collective.
Trans Space Founder’s Research Resources – A list of resources and research relating to TGD people and mental health.
Rainbow Mob – VACCHO – VACCHO provide training and best practice models for those providing healthcare to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIASB+ community.
Other Mental Health Resources
LGBTQIA+ Liaison Team – Eastern Health provide support and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ clients of their services. This includes their mental health services.
Independent Mental Health Advocacy – IMHA provides support for people who are at risk of, or are currently receiving, compulsory mental health treatment with free and confidential information and advocacy. They support anyone in Victoria.
VMIAC – VMIAC is the peak Victorian organisation for people with a lived experience of mental health or emotional challenges across all of Victoria, supporting consumers in all metro, rural and regional communities.
